Un conglomerado de grandes empresas entre las que se encuentran IBM e Intel están tras una interesante propuesta que pretende estandarizar las aplicaciones Linux.   Adobe Systems, IBM, Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Novell, RealNetworks y Red Hat respaldan el Free Standards Group, una organización sin ánimo de lucro que pretende desarrollar estándares para componentes clave de software para el escritorio de Linux.   Entre los componentes a estandarizar se encuentran librerías, aplicaciones runtime e instaladores.   Actualmente desarrollar aplicaciones para Linux es tarea complicada debido a las diferencias entre las dos versiones de escritorio predominantes: GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) y KDE (K Desktop Environment).   La primera especificación podría estar lista para principios del año próximo.   fuente: http://www.vnunet.es/Actualidad/Noticias/Inform%E1tica_personal/Linux/20051018006
